Adventures in Bentomaking is happy to announce the opening of a new drawing called the Furikake Frenzy. The drawing will be open for the entire month of February with two prizes being awarded to randomly drawn entrants. The first prize is an Anpanman Furikake jar. The second prize is an assorted pack of various furikake flavors. The package contains 20 packets of furikake.

Entering the drawing is relatively easy!

1. Create a bento lunch containing furikake.
2. Print the Furikake Frenzy card found here. Cut out the card and fold on the line to creating a standup card.
3. Take a photo of your bento lunch with the card. The entire card does not need to be in the photo, but it should be at least partially visible. Alternatively, you can stick the card under the bento. This card is to verify that you made the bento and that you made it this month.
4. Next, register on the AIB forums and post your lunch photo here in this thread. The photo should be at least 400 pixels wide or tall. Include your first name and country. Do NOT list your email address. Should you win, you will be contacted at the email address you registered with on the forum.

Please note that entries must include a bento lunch. I will be doing a quick review of each lunch entered to ensure that the lunch qualifies as a bento. When an entry is accepted, the entry will be edited and tagged with an entry number. Contestants may enter as many lunches as they like as long as it adheres to the following rules:

1. Created in February 2009.
2. Created by person entering.
3. Contains Furikake Frenzy card.

I reserve the right to deny any entry for any reason, including but not limited to photo quality, lack of visual confirmation of furikake ingredient, or photo size. At the end of February, I will utilize Random.org to determine two winners. The first winner will get to choose from the two prizes. The second winner will be awarded with the remaining prize.

Let the furikake frenzy begin!

Thanks for entering Elizabeth, love your bento! And whoa... I've never seen a Toy Story bento box with the rubber aliens before, double awesome!

Just curious, what kind did you use on the bottom right of the rice?

My entry: Laura, USA

(Larger pic) http://www.flickr.com/photos/57984195@N00/3290825561/sizes/o/

Top Tier:
Rotissery chicken leg lying in a bed of steamed broccoli and topped with swiss cheese stars.
The chicken is lightly sprinkled with furikake, but you can't really tell.

Bottom Tier:
Jasmine rice hearts with a pickled mushroom man holding them up decorated with parsley.
The hearts are topped with furikake, but I also stuffed them with a layer when I was pressing the rice.

I saw the aliens on ebay & had to have it.  The chopsticks even match Smiley  The furikake on the bottom right was some cod roe is says on the package.  I have an oriental store about 1.5 hours from my house & I go & buy things I can figure out what they are.  Their selection is pretty limited though & I end up buying a lot on online(shipping sucks).  The CodRoe came from there.  Its kind of spicy though I found out today

Looks yum Laura! Have you seen that decorated foil on Ichibankan? They don't always have it so luckily I bought a roll. I haven't taken a chicken leg in a bento yet though, so I haven't used it.  Undecided

Elizabeth, you're lucky to have chopsticks that fit. I've never really understood why the Lube Sheep bento boxes come with that little slot for chopsticks, but the matching chopsticks don't fit in there.  Huh

I have seen it, it's adorable! I haven't picked any up yet though, probably for the same exact reason that I wouldn't get to use it all that often. You have a good point though, I should pick some up when I can because I never know when I could use it!

My Bento: Hannah from USA

My bento is called "Star Turtle"

The turtle is made from Sushi rice and filled with gari and nori. On the back of my turtle you can see the furikake decoration. It's my homemade furikake (very spicy).
My turtle sits on steamed broccoli florets and carrot stars. In front you can find some beans. On her left and right you can find some shredded pickeled yellow bell pepper. On the foodpicks are ver delicious blueberrys and watermelon balls. On the brokkoli behind the turtle you see a tomato butterfly.

Because I'm vegan an glutenfree it's a completely vegan bento.

A very cute entry Hannah, thank you so much for entering! I love that it's vegetarian, it's something I have such a hard time doing because I love to eat meat, so I admire any vegetarian bentos!

I also think it's awesome that you made your own furikake!

My onigiri snack box!

onigiri are flavoured with home made nigella (black onion seed), toasted with sesame seed and salt. Salmon furikake and nori sprinkles. Nestling on a bed of green beans with a piggy of soy sauce and an extra container of salmon furikake

The nigella and sesame furikake is very simple, but oh so tasty on rice  Wink

EDITED TO ADD - I forgot to put the wee tag in the picture and I have now eaten the onigiri, so to prove I did print it off, here it is  Grin
